The Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals - Office of Behavioral Health will host a series of 10 forums aimed at educating the public about the addictive disorders programs offered in their communities. These informational sessions begin Wednesday, June 13 in Pineville and Lafayette, and wrap up two weeks later in Gray.
The annual public forums are designed as a way for the community to interact with local addiction services providers. The events allow providers a chance to showcase their services, and serve as an opportunity for the public to share their concerns about the needs of their communities.
"These forums are a great opportunity for our staff to go out across the state to get an understanding of the needs and concerns of the citizens," said Anthony Speier, Ph.D., assistant secretary for the Office of Behavioral Health. "We want to understand their concerns and make them aware of the treatment and prevention programs and services available in their communities."
