Engineering Services
Engineering is a crucial element in the protection of the public's health. Our engineering staff functions in program development, technical direction, and critical decision making for many diverse public protection issues around Louisiana.
The scope of Engineering Services reaches out impacting individuals, businesses, institutions, and communities for the protection of public health. Major responsibilities include administration of the Safe Drinking Water Program, Community Sewage Program, Operator Certification Program, Promulgation of the State Plumbing Code and State Public Pool regulations. Examples of activities include plan reviews and permits for new construction or modification of drinking water facilities, wastewater facilities, institutions, state-owned facilities, and public pools as well as inspection, sampling, and supervision of public water supplies.
Programs and Initiatives
Final Rule - November 20, 2012 LA Register - Title 51 (Sanitary Code) Revisions - Updates the current Plumbing Code. Unifies the Louisiana State Sanitary Code by amending certains sections pertaining to plumbing. Incorporates House Concurrent Resolution No. 4 of the 2008 Regular Session and Act No. 362 of the 2011 Regular Session.
