About the Task Force As a result of the 2004 Louisiana State Legislative Session, Governor Blanco signed Act 187, which created the Louisiana Interagency Task Force on the Future of Family Medicine. The task force will assist DHH and other health and human service organizations in studying and developing strategies to eliminate the significant primary health care shortage in rural and urban underserved areas.
Agencies involved include DHH, the Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians, the Louisiana Hospital Association, the Louisiana Area Health Education Centers, the Louisiana Primary Care Association, the Louisiana Association of Nurse Practitioners, Louisiana medical schools and residency programs and the Health Works Commission.
